Western Kentucky

The game turned when Indiana true freshman defensive back Jonathan Crawford picked off Brandon Doughty on back-to-back offensive snaps for Western Kentucky. The Hoosiers scored touchdowns after both turnovers.

Indiana gave up a lot of yards -- 568 of them -- but repeated its early-season trend of toughening up on defense in the second half.

Nate Sudfeld was brilliant, completing 20-of-27 passes for 355 yards, with three touchdowns and no interceptions. Meanwhile, Jordan Howard churned out the yards on the ground, going for 203 on 31 carries.

The Hoosiers donned the Script Indiana Helmet design for the first time.

The Panthers scored  on a pair of Alex McGough passes complete to Thomas Owens for 21 and 75 yards. The Hoosiers, utilizing the running game, would open the second quarter with a pair of Griffin Oaks field goals but he was short on a third attempt and a missed point after field goal when the Hoosiers took the lead on the second of Nate Studfeld runs.

The Golden Panthers would take the lead early in the 4th quarter on a McGough to Turner toss.

Oaks would tie the game with a 40-yard field goal and then a forced fumble by Nick Mangieri deep in Panther territory resulted in a Mitchell Paige touchdown which gave the Hoosier a 29-22 leaqd.

With 4:14 left, on 4th and goal, at the Indiana two, McGough was intercepted by Jameel Cook Jr. who returning the ball 96 yards for a touchdown. Cook tied for the 4th longest return in school history.

Final Score 36-22.

Give the Defense credit. Three turnovers made the game and sealed the deal.
