Pinstripe Bowl

In their first bowl appearance since 2007, the Hoosiers led Duke throughout, but ultimately fell on a controversial missed field goal call, 44-41, in overtime in the Pinstripe Bowl and Yankee Stadium in New York.
Duke (8-5) got a field goal on its first OT drive, giving Nate Sudfeld and Indiana (6-7) a chance to tie or win the game. The Hoosiers went 3-and-out, though, setting kicker Griffin Oakes up for a potential game-tying FG.
Oakes' 38-yard attempt was ruled no good, but Oakes immediately chased after the officials and challenged their decision.
"No way I missed that," he told the officials.
But because the kick was determined to have been over the uprights, the play was not reviewable, and the game was over.

Purdue

Indiana had won two in a row in the series—both in Bloomington. The teams haven’t met in West Lafayette since 2012, the last time Purdue won the Old Oaken Bucket. Entering the game Purdue lead the series 72–39–6 and trophy series. The first Bucket game resulted in a 0-0 tie, which led to the initial "I-P" chain link to be attached to the Bucket.  Kickoff for the 118th meeting and 91st Annual Old Oaken Bucket game was set for a noon kickoff at Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette.

The Hoosiers won their third straight Bucket Game for the first time since a four-game winning streak from 1944-47.

They scored a school-record 54 points in West Lafayette, breaking the previous mark set in a 52-7 victory in 1988.

They finished the season by winning two straight conference road games -- something they hadn't done since 1993.

They have likely ended the speculation that surfaced about Wilson's future in Bloomington during a six-game losing streak, virtually assuring him of getting a chance to finish the rebuilding project he started five years ago.

And thanks to Sudfeld, Indiana wrapped it up in style.

Sudfeld finished 18 of 29 with 350 yards, giving him 7,490 career yards -- enough to surpass Antwaan Randle El (7,469) on Indiana's all-time list.

Running back Devine Redding started in place of the injured Jordan Howard (knee) and ran 22 times for a career high 144 yards and one score on a day he hurdled one defender on a 27-yard run in the first half and a zigzagged for a 57-yard pickup to set up Sudfeld's 3-yard TD run to open the second half. That made it 31-14.

Defensive end Nick Magieri  had three sacks to give him 15, tied for the ninth-most in one season in school history, and Griffin Oakes   made two field goals to break Austin Starr's single-season record of 21. Oakes has 22.

But it wasn't the numbers that mattered most to Indiana. It was the result. Final score 54-36 Hoosiers.

Maryland

Maryland won at Indiana last season. This would mark the Hoosiers’ first trip to College Park since 1934, when IU took a 17-14 decision. Indiana executed an onside kick during the second quarter. The Hoosiers spotted a big gap in Maryland’s kick return team and took advantage. Sudfeld had just connected on a 59-yard pass to start momentum swinging in Indiana’s direction. The onside kick, and ensuing touchdown drive, gave the Hoosiers a 24-21 lead and put them back in the driver’s seat.

Michigan

Since 1968, Indiana has one win vs. Michigan—coming in 1987 in Bloomington.

The Hoosiers had been running the ball all day but went to the air on the double-overtime fourth-and-goal and Michigan's Delano Hill broke up the play to secure the Wolverines' 48-41 win

The Wolverines  lead the all-time series, 55-9

Iowa

Iowa lost three in a row to Indiana from 1998-2000. Since then, the Hawkeyes have gone 8-3 in the series. But Iowa lost the last time it visited Bloomington in 2012

It was another frustrating finish for Indiana (4-5, 0-5), which got within 21-20 after a 28-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter.
But Daniels answered with a 1-yard scoring run, and Beathard sealed it with a 10-yard TD pass to George Kittle.
Indiana got a late touchdown but was unable to recover the onside kick.
Beathard finished 19 of 33 for 231 yards.
Indiana's Jordan Howard  ran 22 times for 174 yards and two scores against the nation's No. 5 run defense, but the Hoosiers lost their fifth straight.

Michigan State

Michigan State has now won seven in a row and 15 of 17 from the Hoosiers. But one of those IU triumphs was in East Lansing in 2001.

Michigan State quarterback Connor Cook came within two yards of setting a program record for passing yards in a game while carrying the Spartans to a 52-26 win over Indiana. Cook threw for a career-high 398 yards and four touchdowns.

Nate Sudfeld and Indiana’s offense responded stride-for-stride for much of the game. The Hoosiers put together scoring drives of 25 seconds and 82 seconds when Michigan State threatened to pull away immediately before and after halftime. Sudfeld, who was intercepted on the first play of the game, rebounded to throw for 308 yards and three touchdowns.

Michigan State leads the all-time series 45-14-2.

Rutgers

The Hoosiers fell at Rutgers last season, 45-23, despite getting 307 yards rushing from Tevin Coleman. This would be the Scarlet Knights’ first trip to Bloomington.

The Scarlet Knights overcame a 25-point, third-quarter deficit to shock the Indiana Hoosiers after kicker Kyle Federico nailed a 26-yard field goal as time expired. Rutgers won 55-52, after scoring 28 unanswered points.

Penn State

Penn State entered the game  17-1 vs. Indiana. The lone loss came in Bloomington in 2013. This will be the Hoosiers’ first trip to State College since 2012.

Without Hoosiers starting quarterback Nate Sudfeld and running back Jordan Howard, the Nittany Lions limited the opposition to 234 total yards. The running backs averaged just 2.4 yards a carry, and the passing game was ineffective. (Third-string QB Danny Cameron replaced an injured Zander Diamont in the third quarter.) Penn State’s Christian Hackenberg also took advantage of a struggling secondary, to the tune of 262 yards and two touchdowns.  Final score 29-7 lions.

Ohio State

Indiana went 2-1-1 vs. Ohio State from 1987-90—including a victory in Columbus in 1987. Since then, the Hoosiers have lost 20 in a row to the Buckeyes. All that aside, don’t forget that Indiana led Ohio State, 20-14, midway through the third quarter last season at Ohio Stadium.

This would be a contest between two unbeaten teams in the B1G. Ohio State entered Memorial Stadium ranked #1 in the country.

Ezekiel Elliott's runs,  and a goal-line stand rescue Ohio State against Indiana. The Hoosiers dominated in the first half and went ahead late in the third quarter but the Buckeyes pulled away in the 4th..

Ohio State's defense held up, as Indiana's last-ditch attempt to tie the game at the end failed and the Buckeyes held on to win, 34-27.

The junior running back got a sluggish offense going with second-half touchdown runs of 55, 65 and 75 yards, and Eli Apple batted away a desperation pass in the end zone as time expired to preserve No. 1 Ohio State's 34-27 victory at Indiana.

Wake Forest

Nate Sudfeld threw for 205 yards and two touchdowns, Jordan Howard added 168 rushing yards and a touchdown and Indiana improved to 4-0 for the first time since 1990 by holding off Wake Forest 31-24. IU had not opened the season 4-0 since 1990.
