Here we go again

Athletic Director Fred Glass in his press conference stated the obvious, “The bottom line is three Big Ten wins in three years is not the basis for an extension" and so the Lynch era is history. Corso, Mallory, Cameron, and now Bill Lynch all won the Bucket and were promptly shown the door. Lynch recruited character student athletes and served under some unprecedented times. Lynch gained steam as the head coach after the 2007 season, when the Hoosiers went 7-6 and to the Insight Bowl. It was the first bowl game for the Hoosiers since 1993, under Bill Mallory.

Of course, the flip side to that is the 2007 team was basically Hoeppner's. Lynch was handed the team after the untimely death of the very popular coach. Since that season, the Hoosiers have gone 12-24, with a 1-7 conference record in each of the three seasons. With the facility upgrade and a commitment to spend some serious money in a new hire IU football might be headed in a positive direction. On the other hand, this will be the fourth hire for the IU position in the past nine years. We shall see.
