It all started with coach Pont
It all started in 1967 and that magical season. I've been to Hoosier football games ever since except for the 1981 and 2006 seasons. We've gone through many ups and downs but through it all it's been fun, exciting, depressing, invigorating. Let's hope 2008 is a great season. Saturday, November 17, 2007

Ind. (AP) - Kellen Lewis ran for two touchdowns, and Indiana held off a
frantic Purdue rally Saturday when Austin Starr made a 49-yard field goal with
30 seconds left to hang on for a 27-24 victory.
The win likely gives the Hoosiers (7-5, 3-5 Big
Ten) their first bowl bid in 14 years, fulfilling the promise late coach Terry
Hoeppner made to fans when he was hired three years ago.
Indiana delivered this one almost the way Hoeppner
drew it up. Playing in front of the first home sellout of the season, Marcus
Thigpen ran for a career-high 140 yards, Lewis kept Purdue's defense off
balance with a nifty mix of run and pass and Starr made a career-long field
goal for the winner.
The Boilermakers (7-5, 3-5) looked bewildered most
of the game. Curtis Painter was 28-of-45 for 279 yards and one TD, but Purdue
was limited to 78 yards rushing -- minus-12 in the first half -- and lost for
the third straight week.
Indiana won for only the second times in 11 games
against its biggest rival and the victory set off a wild celebration that
included Hoeppner's wife, Jane, hugging Starr on the field.
It appeared Indiana had the game wrapped up after
Lewis ran 9 yards for one score, threw 8 yards to James Hardy for the second
and scooted 8 yards to make it 24-3 early in the second half.
But Purdue rallied with two 1-yard TD runs from
Kory Sheets and finally tied the score at 24 after taking advantage of
Thigpen's late fumble. Painter followed that with a 5-yard pass to Jake
Standeford, who was wide open in the end zone with 3:39 to go.
Then Lewis drove the 45 yards to set up Starr,
whose field goal just cleared the crossbar.

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) - Curtis Painter passed for 260 yards and a touchdown
and overcame four interceptions to lead Purdue to a 28-19 win over Indiana on
Saturday in the Old Oaken Bucket game.
Purdue's victory eliminated Indiana from bowl
contention.
Greg Orton caught six passes for 112 yards and
Dorien Bryant caught five passes for 74 yards and ran for a score for Purdue
(8-4, 5-3 Big Ten). The Boilermakers finished in a tie for fourth place in the
conference.
Kellen Lewis passed for 290 yards and a touchdown
and ran for 103 and a score, and James Hardy caught nine passes for 151 yards
and a touchdown for Indiana (5-7, 3-5). The Hoosiers gained 505 yards, but
scored just two touchdowns.
Painter threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Orton
with 9:13 left in the third quarter to give the Boilermakers a 14-3 lead.
Indiana responded with a six-play, 74-yard scoring
drive. A 28-yard pass from Lewis to Hardy moved the ball to the Purdue 25, and
two plays later, Lewis ran 15 yards for a touchdown to cut Purdue's lead to
14-10 with 6:56 left in the third quarter.
Purdue came back with a nine-play, 80-yard scoring
drive. Kory Sheets scored on a 2-yard run to give Purdue a 21-10 lead with 2:45
left in the third quarter.
Indiana's Austin Starr made a 31-yard field goal
with 46 seconds left in the third quarter to make it 21-13.
Starr pushed a 26-yarder left with 11:07 left in
the fourth quarter. Indiana got the ball back after Painter's fourth interception,
and a 53-yard run by Demetrius McCray set up a first-and-goal from the 2.
Purdue forced a fourth-and-goal from the 7, but Lewis found Hardy in the middle
of the end zone for a score to cut Purdue's lead to 21-19. The Boilermakers
stopped Lewis on a quarterback draw on the 2-point conversion attempt.
Purdue's nine-play, 76-yard scoring drive put the
game out of reach. Bryant scored on a 15-yard run to give the Boilermakers a
28-19 lead with 5:06 to play.

Ind. (AP) - Purdue took advantage of five Indiana turnovers, getting three
touchdown runs from Kory Sheets and two from Dorien Bryant to cruise past the
rival Hoosiers 41-14.
The Boilermakers (5-6, 3-5) claimed the Old Oaken
Bucket for the fourth straight year and the eighth time in Joe Tiller's nine seasons
as coach. Purdue won its final three games of the season but failed to reach a
bowl game for the first time in Tiller's tenure.
Indiana (4-7, 1-7) allowed 27 points in a quarter
for the third straight week and ended the year with six consecutive losses, its
last looking as dismal as it appeared on the one working scoreboard at Memorial
Stadium.
Hoosiers quarterback Blake Powers was picked off
three times, finishing 11-of-24 for 150 yards although he scored on touchdown runs
of 9 and 8 yards. Indiana also lost two fumbles.
Sheets, who replaced the injured Jerod Void early
Saturday, carried 19 times for 137 yards while Bryant scored on two of six runs.
Quarterback Curtis Painter was 14-of-27 for 124 yards and had 10 carries for 60
yards.
But Purdue made it look easy. After trailing 7-0,
the Boilermakers capitalized on Powers' first interception with a 25-yard TD
run from Sheets that gave Purdue a 10-7 lead. Three plays later, Powers was
picked off again and Sheets converted with a 5-yard TD run.
