Ben Chappell threw a career-high four touchdown passes to lead Indiana past Akron 35-20. Chappell was 23 of 33 for 342 yards. Terrance Turner caught six passes for 121 yards and one TD for the Hoosiers (3-0). It was Turner's first career 100-yard game.
Patrick Nicely was 15 of 27 for 175 yards with two touchdowns for the Zips (0-4), who have not beaten a Big Ten school since 1894.
Indiana made good use of its tight ends. Chappell threw two TDs to redshirt freshman Ted Bolser , and his third scoring toss went to Max Dedmond. Bolser became the first Hoosiers tight end with four TD catches in a season since 1979. Tandon Doss sealed it with a 9-yard TD run late in the third quarter.
