IU v Michigan State

Kenneth Walker III, the nation’s top rusher, carried 23 times for 84+yards and Michigan State punted its first six possessions - still it was enough for the Spartans to pull away. The Hoosiers left twelve points on the board settling instead for field goals. Final score Michigan State 20 - Indiana 15.

IU @ Penn State

Penn State forced eight punts, two turnovers and blocked a field goal to lift the Nittany Lions to a 24-0 victory over Indiana.

Sean Clifford threw for 178 yards and three touchdowns, Jahan Dotson caught a pair of touchdown passes, Brenton Strange added one and Jordan Stout added a 50-yard field goal in the fourth quarter in the Nittany Lions' ninth straight victory. It was the first time the Hoosiers failed to put points on the board dating back to the 2000 season when the Hoosiers fell to #18 Michigan 58-0.

The Hoosiers played well enough on defense and held Penn State’s big-play offense to just 14 first-half points. Offensively, however, Indiana had very little going on. Penix completed just eight of his first 19 throws for 109 yards and one interception before he went down in the third quarter separating his shoulder. No matter who Indiana’s QB is moving forward, they’ll need more help from everyone around them if this team wants to make any progress.

IU @ Western Kentucky

Indiana escaped Western Kentucky with an exciting 33-31 win.

Michael Penix, Jr. the redshirt junior completed 35-of-53 passes for 373 yards.  Penix was composed throughout, used his feet when he had to, and looked much more nimble and fundamentally sound than he had to this point in the season.  The 35 pass completions from Penix is tied for the fifth-most by a quarterback in program history for a single game.

Stephen Carr had a solid evening, rushing for 109 yards on 25 carries with two touchdowns. 

Ty Fryfogle was on the receiving end of six passes that resulted in conversions on third or fourth down.  For the game he snared 10 balls for 98 yards.  It was the second highest reception total in a game for his career.

Peyton Hendershot put together a second straight high volume game, pulling in six passes for 94 yards.  He became the 22nd Hoosier with 100 catches (105) and 1,000 yards (1,116).

Kicker Charles Campbell might have been IU’s MVP.  He was 4-for-4 kicking field goals and is now 19-for-20 for his career.  Campbell connected from 46, 37, 25 and 48 yards out, and Indiana needed all of them.

IU V Cincinnati

Losing McFadden, a captain to a spearing penalty  changed everything for the Hoosiers' defense. Add their red-zone struggles, three turnovers and the special teams breakdown and it was the perfect combination for a loss. Hoosiers loose 38-24 in front of a sold out Memorial Stadium crowd of 56,656.

IU v Idaho

Michael Penix Jr. threw two touchdown passes and ran for another score and Indiana took advantage of two special teams touchdowns and a dominant defense to rout Idaho 56-14.

IU @ Iowa

Riley Moss' 30-yard interception return for a touchdown, the first of his two scores in the game, helped start No. 18 Iowa on the way to a 34-6 victory over No. 17 Indiana on Saturday in the opener for both teams. The interception happened on Indiana's third offensive play.

Iowa intercepted three of Michael Penix Jr.'s passes — safety Dane Belton had the other interception — and had a fourth wiped out by a roughing-the-passer call. The score was 31-3 at the half. In the second half each team traded field-goals

Outback Bowl

 

Indiana had to miss the last two games of the season due to Covid -19 outbreaks with all football activity closed for close to three weeks and the hiatus from  football showed on the field. 

Old Miss used a hurry up offense to keep the Indiana defense off. The Hosier offense was limited to screens and short yardage running with back up quarterback Jake Tuttle's injury mid-way through the second quarter. While the defense kept the game close the Hosiers as a whole looked a step behind the entire game. Final score 20-26 Rebels.
