Michigan's Jeremy Gallon had a Big Ten-record 369 yards receiving and two TDs. Fitzgerald Toussaint had 151 yards rushing and scored for a fourth time with 1:12 left in the shootout.

The Wolverines set a school record with 711 yards of offense, and gave up 572 on defense.

Devin Gardner set school records with 584 yards of offense and 503 yards passing and matched a  Michigan mark with five touchdowns to help the Wolverines outscore Indiana 63-47

Michigan State

Jeremy Langford scored four touchdowns, and Michigan State recovered from an early defensive breakdown to beat Indiana 42-28.

The Spartans  prevailed in a matchup between their top-ranked defense and Indiana's fast-paced offense. Tevin Coleman scored on a 64-yard run for the Hoosiers  just 61 seconds into the game, but Michigan State took control shortly after halftime.

Indiana's Nate Sudfeld went 14 of 30 for 137 yards, although backup Tre Roberson threw two touchdown passes.

Indiana came in ranked No. 1 in the Big Ten in total offense, but Michigan State had the nation's top-ranked defense.

Coleman found a hole up the middle and breezed to a surprisingly easy touchdown on the game's first drive, but the Spartans tightened up after that.

Penn State

For the first time in school history the Hoosiers beat Penn State. The 44-24 victory was the first B1G  opening game victory since a 2000 win over Iowa.
