Purdue

Stevie Scott led the Hoosiers by rushing 20 times for 104 yards and one TD, giving him a school-record six 100-yard games by a true freshman. Peyton Ramsey was 36 of 51 with 345 yards and one interception but struggled to consistently put the Hoosiers in scoring position.

David Blough threw three more touchdown passes, receiver Rondale Moore scored twice and tied a school record with his seventh 100-yard game of the season to lead the Boilermakers to a 28-21 victory.

Coach Jeff Brohm has taken the Boilermakers to bowl games in each of his first two seasons as head coach, beating the Hoosiers both times to make it. He's been to bowl games all five seasons he's been a head coach and now Purdue faces its biggest off-season question: Will Brohm return for Year 3 with a job opening at his alma mater, Louisville.

The Hoosiers spent all of the last off-season preaching the importance of finishing. But after starting 4-1, the Hoosiers only got one more win and must figure out what needs to change to avoid a third straight bowl absence in 2019.

Minnesota

On a rare Friday night contest the Hoosiers took an early lead, lost it only to come storming back with twenty-two straight points only to lose the game in the waning minutes.

After Peyton Ramsey capped a third fourth-quarter touchdown drive for the Hoosiers  with a 2-point conversion pass to Donavan Hale, the teams traded punts.

When Minnesota regained possession the second time, Morgan dropped back on the first play and hit Bateman in stride after the true freshman used a double move to turn a slant pattern into a go route up the hash. Morgan had thrived on crisply thrown slants and posts all game, and Hoosiers redshirt freshman safety Juwan Burgess bit on the fake slant before watching Bateman blow by him.

Iowa

Nate Stanley torched the Indiana secondary through the air, passing for 320 yards and tying an Iowa record for the second-most touchdown passes in a single game in school history with six. Stanley connected with nine different wide receivers in a game where he was only sacked one time.

The Hawkeyes' 479 yards of total offense marked the fourth straight game they have surpassed 400 yards. Final score Iowa 42-Hoosiers 16.

The Hoosiers managed to make it interesting for a brief period during the second quarter. Indiana was trailing 14-3 when Stanley made his only mistake of the day, an errant pass right in the direction of Hoosiers defender Thomas Allen, who set Indiana up in Iowa territory following his interception. On the next play, Indiana quarterback Peyton Ramsey found Ty Fryfogle in the end zone for a 33-yard touchdown that made it a 14-10. Ramsey finished with one touchdown and two interceptions, completing 31 of 42 pass attempts for 263 yards.

For the game the team would honor legendary great George Taliaferro, with the #44 on their helmet. Talaiferro, the star running back for Indiana who in 1949 became the first black player drafted by an NFL team.. Taliaferro died at 91 early in the week prior to the game.

Halfway through the season the Hoosiers stand at 4-2 overall, 1-2 in the B1G East Division.

IU v Ball State

It was back to sunny skies and a win a quite convincing fashion  as the Hoosiers pulled away from Ball State 38-10 to finish the non-conference portion of the season 3-0.  J-Shun Harris’ 86-yard return was arguably the catalyst for a blowout. Harris (bark from his third ACL tear) also had another long return called back, while Haydon Whitehead’s punting was customarily reliable and Logan Justus hit all of his kicks.
