Maryland

After accumulating 828 yards and 53 first downs, attempting 78 passes and running 153 plays, the Terrapins and Hoosiers finally walked off the field after a game that lasted nearly four hours and ended with Maryland celebrating a 42-39 victory.

Indiana lost despite outgaining Maryland 483-345 and making 35 first downs.

Indiana got the most out of both its quarterbacks. Peyton Ramsey went 31 for 41 for 279 yards and three touchdowns, and backup Richard Lagow passed for 131 yards and two scores.

Ramsey was flattened by a late hit in the third quarter and returned the following series, but Lagow ran the offense for much of the fourth quarter after Ramsey was felled again.

Maryland celebrated the 125th birthday of the football program by wearing throwback uniforms consisting of yellow helmets, yellow jerseys and black pants.

The Hoosiers thought their strong suit was defense, but that wasn't the case in this one. The rebuilding process under Allen appears to be working, though it's going to be a while before the Hoosiers can complete with the Big Ten elite, given that Maryland was difficult to handle.

Michigan State

Griffin Oakes kicked three field goals for Indiana, the last of which put the Hoosiers up 9-3 with 12:29 remaining.

The Hoosiers had the Spartans set up with a third-and-nineteen while leading 9-3 with around six minutes left in the game from mid-field. A stop their probably ices the game, but Indiana had a miscommunication on defense and allowed Michigan State to get 16 yards and made it a fourth and manageable for MSU. The next play MSU picked up the first down and three plays later, the Spartans found the end zone for the game winning score.

THE TAKEAWAY

The Hoosiers now have four losses on the season -- Saturday's, plus defeats against Ohio State, Penn State and Michigan. There's no great shame in that, but a defensive effort against Michigan State ultimately went to waste. The Hoosier run game needs to get rolling.  Final score 9-17

Michigan

J-Shun Harris returned a punt to Michigan's 20-yard line to set up one of Indiana's two touchdowns on the day. After missing an onside kick recovery by inches, the Hoosiers got the ball back in time for Griffin Oakes to knock through a game-tying, 46-yard field goal as time expired making it 20 points all. That drive was aided by one of the Wolverines' 16 penalties, a school record.

Final score however  Michigan 27 - Indiana 20 in overtime. At the mid-season the Hoosiers stand at 3-3 0-3 in league play.

IU v Charleston Southern

The game against Florida International was canceled due to hurricane Irma. Insert Charleston Southern from the Big South Conference. Inserted also into the starting lineup red-shirt freshman Peyton Ramsey. Like Georgia Southern the Buccaneers run the triple option out of the shotgun. The end result Hoosiers 27-Buccaneers 0 the Hoosiers first shutout since 1993!

Penn State

Saquon Barkley scored on a 98 Yd Kickoff Return to open the game and the Lions were off to the races. Barkley would finish the contest with a pass of his own for the final State score. Special team miscues doomed the Hoosiers as the  Lions would score 28 points in the first quarter. The Hoosiers would out score the Lions 14-0 in the second quarter but it was too little too late. Miscues at critical points would doom Indiana in this contest.  Final Score:  Penn State 45 Hoosiers 14.
