IU v Georgia Southern

The team honored the late coach Terry Hoeppner and the 2007 squad with special commemorative uniforms.  It was Hoeppner who had brought a renewed interest in the program with the expansion of the North and South end zones, his renaming Memorial Stadium "The Rock" and his signature rallying cry, "Play 13!"

Georgia Southern  came to Bloomington the 120th-best team against the run nationally, so Indiana’s ground game was always going to have some success. But if this team is still looking for a clear No. 1 back, it has a strong candidate in true freshman Morgan Ellison.

Ellison surprised coaches with a strong preseason and looked good two weeks ago at Virginia. Saturday, he became the 11th freshman back in program history to break the 100-yard barrier. He nearly broke 200, finishing with 186 yards and two scores. Final score 52-17

IU @ Virginia

Redshirt freshman Peyton Ramsey completed 16 of 20 passes for 173 yards and two touchdowns to lead Indiana to a 34-17 victory over Virginia on Saturday.

Ohio State

The Tom Allen era began with a rare East Division foe, Ohio State coming to Memorial Stadium to begin the 2017 campaign on a national stage, in prime time, on a Thursday night. It would be the first time that the ESPN  College Game Day event would be broadcast in Bloomington. A sellout crowd was also expected.  This was also the exposure the Athletic administration had hoped for with a renewed focus on the program.

The Hoosiers held a one point lead mid way through the third quarter. Before the Buckeyes began to pull away. J.K. Dobbins broke Ohio State's freshman record by rushing for 181 yards in his college debut, J.T. Barrett threw three touchdown passes as the second-ranked Buckeyes pulled away to beat Indiana 49-21
