Purdue

Ralph Bolden scored one touchdown, Caleb TerBush threw for another and Carson Wiggs made three field goals to lead Purdue past Indiana 33-25 for the Old Oaken Bucket. The victory made Purdue (6-6, 4-4 Big Ten) bowl eligible for the first time under coach Danny Hope. The Hoosier offense came out strong with some quick scores but too many mistakes at key moments proved costly.

Ohio State

The Hoosiers drew first blood scoring the first ten points. The Buckeyes would tie, go ahead, only to have the Hoosiers answer to tie the score at 13 at the half. In the second half both teams would trade scores. In the 4th quarter a Tre Roberson sideline pass intercepted by Travis Howard  and a Carlos Hyde rush over right end for 47 yards sealed the game. Final score, 34-20.

Northwestern

The Hoosiers  scored first with a 12 –yard TD run. Northwestern answered with 24 straight points. All the Hoosiers could do after that was trade scores. First year coach Wilson hoped to change things up starting seven freshmen on defense - the most of any FBS team this season.  The result was another loss 59-38.

Iowa

Marvin McNutt caught three touchdown passes to become Iowa's career leader and Marcus Coker ran for two more scores to lead the Hawkeyes past Indiana 45-24

IU freshman Tre Roberson made his first start throwing for 196 yards and running for 82 more. He was in command of the IU offense more than any Hoosiers quarterback this season, generating five drives of 70 yards or more. For his efforts he was voted the B1G freshman of the week.

The Hoosiers lost for the fifth straight time and now have been outscored 161-61 in Big Ten play.

Illinois

Freshman Shane Wynn took the opening kickoff at the 1-yard line, found a hole up the middle and sprinted 99 yards for a TD to make it 7-0 just 12 seconds into the game. On Illinois' second series, Donovonn Young  dropped a handoff near midfield. Brandon McGhee recovered for Indiana and six plays later, Mitch Ewald made a 44-yard field goal to give Indiana a 10-0 lead.

Illinois then took matters into its own hands. They got 21 points off of three plays.  They took control of the game making the Hoosiers  pay for three big mistakes -- on the two TD passes from Scheelhaase to Jenkins and a 66-yard fumble recovery for a score that changed the game.

The Hoosiers have now lost three straight overall and 13 in a row against ranked opponents, dating to a 31-28 victory over then No. 13 Iowa on Oct. 14, 2006. Now they'll hit the road for back-to-back road games at No. 4 Wisconsin and Iowa with a still unsettled quarterback rotation.

On a positive note the Hoosiers were only called for one penalty...

Penn State's Matt McGloin made the most of his second chance. The former starter re-entered the game late in the third quarter, threw a 74-yard TD pass on his first play and later led the Nittany Lions to a field goal, giving Penn State a 16-10 victory.

Penn State (4-1) won the inaugural Leaders Division game and improved to 15-0 all-time against the Hoosiers.

North Texas

21 points in the second quarter put the Hoosiers in a hole they could not dig out. And they didn't have an offensive shovel either until it was too late.

Coach Wilson’s quote in the IDS this past week might sum it all up, “I think that’s where the old guys are still kind of not where I think they ought to be. Maybe it’s just going to take a little time and maybe it won’t. Maybe it will never come.”

South Carolina State

Indiana did plenty of good things Saturday, especially on offense, that contributed to Kevin Wilson's first victory as Hoosiers coach. Indiana was called for a school-record 20 penalties, including 12 on the offense. The offensive line had nine of those, with senior tackle Andrew McDonald flagged five times and true freshman tackle Peyton Eckert three times for 176 yards. But the Hoosiers pulled away 38-21

Virginia

The Hoosiers had a new uniform wrinkle against Virginia — white helmets. Not quite the black uniforms of the Cam Cameron era but significantly different. The first time for white helmets since 1966. Silly mistakes, personal fouls, a blocked field goal, a botched return kick in the first half saw the Hoosiers trailing 16 – 3 at the half.

In the 2nd half IU would score 28 straight points only to have the Cavalries score the final 11 points in the final 96 seconds - capping the game with a go-ahead field goal with :02 remaining. Great effort to get back into it, but you gotta close the deal.
