New Uniforms?

New Uniforms for the 2010 season?

A prototype was introduced lately. Time will tell. And WHY is the left hand missing? I pray it’s not a foretaste of things to come…

In the 2nd Quarter 17 points push the Badgers ahead. Too little too late in the second half.

Iowa

Leading by 14 in the third quarter and just two yards away from the Hawkeyes' end zone. Given how poorly quarterback Ricky Stanzi was playing, one more touchdown might have brought their charmed season crashing down. But this was Halloween. Tyler Sash instead returned an interception 86 yards for a touchdown, and Stanzi bounced back from a career-high five interceptions to rally the Hawkeyes (No. 4 BCS, No. 7 AP) to a 42-24 victory. 28 Points in the 4th quarter just killed the Hoosiers.

Northwestern

On the first play from scrimmage Darius Willis rushed for 70 yards for a touchdown followed by a pair of Ben Chappell and Darius Willis rushing touchdowns. Following a 28 yard field goal by Northwestern’s Stefan Demos his kickoff for 63 yards was returned by Ray Fisher for 93 yards for a 28-3 IU lead at 7:32. It was then that Northwestern came to life with the hurry up offense scoring 26 points to win out 29-28.

Illinois

With 0:56 remaining in the first half Demarlo Belcher scored on a slant pass to retake the lead 10-7. With 0:32 remaining the Hoosiers took possession near mid field. As time expired a 36 yard field goal was good making it 13-7 as the first half drew to a close In the second half the defense stiffened. The Illini were in position to score when Williams fumbled deep in Hoosier territory as Ray Fisher recovered and returned it to the Hoosier 30. In the 4th quarter a deep pass to Doss made it 20-7. In the next series another Illini fumble got the Hoosiers to the Illinois 18 and a toss to the tight end Troy Wagner made it 27-7.

Ohio State

The Hoosiers managed a sustained drive in the second quarter mounting an 80 yard eight play series resulting in a Ben Chappell pass complete to Tandon Doss for 7 yards for a touchdown. A Terrelle Pryor deep pass complete to DeVier Posey for 23 yards for a touchdown and a crossing pass complete to Zach Boren for 8 yards finished the first half scoring. In the final seconds of the game the Hoosiers had the opportunity to score on the last play of the game but by then the game was securely in the Buckeye’s favor. Final score 33-14.

Michigan

In the 4th quarter quarterback Tate Forcier leaped for a TD and a 2-point conversion to put Michigan ahead 29-26, but Darius Willis put Indiana back ahead with an 85-yard run on the next play. Forcier's 26-yard pass to Martavious Odoms with 2:29 left lifted No. 23 Michigan to a 36-33 win. The game was not without controversy. In the waning moments what appeared to be simultaneous catch in favor of the Hoosiers was ruled an interception and the ball was returned to Michigan The Hoosiers out gained Michigan 467 -372. It was the most points the Hoosiers had ever scored at Michigan. Wills finished with 152 yards on 16 carries.

Akron

Ray Fisher returned the opening kickoff 91 yards for the opening score. The defense steped up as Austin Thomas had two of Indiana's four interceptions. The Hoosiers held the Zips to less than 200 yards of total offense. Two kicks however were blocked so there is still work that needs to be done. The Hoosiers pulled away in the second half.

Western Michigan

Defensive end Greg Middleton, the nation’s sacks leader in 2007, hit Aaron Winchester in the backfield, jarring the ball loose. Carrington recovered. But Indiana failed to produce a first down that would have run out the clock, so Lynch instructed punter Chris Hagerup to step out of the end zone with 17 seconds left. That made it 23-19.

Western still had a chance from midfield with 7 seconds to go, calling for a hook-and-lateral play that started near the left sideline, came back to the right sideline and wound up with five pitches – the last of which was ruled a forward lateral but ended up in the hands of safety Jerimy Finch as time expired.

Eastern Kentucky

The 2009 season opened with a 19-13 victory over Eastern Kentucky. Plenty of issues for the coaching staff to work on. The offense failed to score in the second half and the defensive secondary was at times soft.

Moving to Defense

Ray Fisher is switching to defensive back his senior year for the good of the team. He's put on twenty pounds. Let's hope the staff can teach and the players can execute.

Pistol Offense

This spring the IU offense will be experimenting with the pistol offense. The pistol offense is a hybrid of the traditional shotgun and singleback offenses. The quarterback lines up three yards behind the center, and the running back lines up four yards directly behind the QB. It is also commonly referred to as The 'Pistol Formation' as well as The 'Pistol Offense.' While The Pistol Offense has been experimented with by dozens of Football Bowl Subdivision teams like LSU, Syracuse, and Missouri, it is used mostly by the Nevada Wolf Pack. The Pistol has also made the transition to the NFL mainly being used by the 2008 Kansas City Chiefs.
Wikipedia has a few notes on this new formation. We could see some option coming out of this formation.
