Bucket Week Day Day 6
2001- On fourth and one at IU's goal line, Orten sent Montrell Lowe into the middle. Martin Lapostolle, a freshman from Canada who played only goal-line defense, threw Lowe back. It was the play of the game.

Penn State
Indiana entered its game against number seven ranked Nittany Lions of Penn State a 35 point underdog. Gone due to injury were Austin Thomas, Nick Polk, Will Patterson, and Christopher Phillips on the defense and Bryon Payton on the offense. At quarterback Kellen Lewis, Ben Chappell as well as third stringer Mitchell Evans were each dealing with nagging injuries. Yet the Hoosiers only trailed at half-time 10-7 because of miscues by Peen State.
Momentum swung after halftime in Penn State’s favor as the Lions pulled ahead to a 34-7 victory. For the game the Hoosiers managed just six first downs the fewest ever allowed by Penn State against a Big Ten opponent. The Hoosiers managed only 180 yards and could muster just 36 yards and one first down after halftime.

Wisconsin
Ben Chappell, making the third start of his career, was effective but had to leave after getting hit by Jay Valai near the end of the first half. The hit turned a potential go ahead score into a last second Badger field goal drawing ahead at the half 24-20.
Wisconsin became the second team to score at least 50 points against IU for the year. The Wisconsin loss became the fifth time this season IU has given up at least 40 points in a game.
The 55 points are the most the team has allowed in a home game since falling to Penn State, 58-25, on Nov. 16, 2002. For the game, Wisconsin gained a total of 601 yards 441 rushing and 160 receiving.

Central Michigan
At the start of the season most fans had hoped IU would race out to a quick start and a possible bowl.
Now it appears we've hit rock bottom, the tank is dry and we running on fumes!
IU's first scoring drive went 13 plays and amassed 99 yards. The drive tied IU and NCAA records. The last time the Hoosiers had a 99-yard drive was 1998 when quarterback Antwaan Randle El drove the Hoosiers down the field and they scored on a 1-yard run by Chris Gall. Saturday, the Hoosiers used three quarterbacks on their 99-yard drive. Ben Chappell ran seven plays, Kellen Lewis had five and Mitchell Evans had one.
In the 4th Qtr. Central would score nine points to pull away.

The offense could not get anything going completing only one of ten third down conversions. The last game in the Dome. IU ran 48 plays - 24 passes and 24 rushes. 6 penalties (killing our drives/keeping theirs alive), 3 turnovers, a dropped INT and a dropped pass were the difference in this game.

Murray State
We witnessed a perfect game. After four quarters of play and especially in the second half with many from the second and third team getting some playing time - Indiana finished the game without one penalty! When was the last time that happened? Twenty-seven years ago - October 3, 1981 against Michigan.
Marcus Thigpen had a breakout game - rushed for 100 yards. He rushed for 98 yards in the first quarter - for two scores. With that the rout was on!
